Program Goals

As an Art Educator I will:

Inspire curiosity, appreciation and enjoyment of art and culture.

Develop and teach age appropriate and standards-based art lessons that compel students to think creatively and work through problems.

Instill that every student can be an artist and encourage their artistic development.

Build relationships with students in order to know and understand their personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and needs.

Use a variety of instruction techniques and methods in order for every student to learn.

Establish a culture of inclusiveness and acceptance by ensuring that all students, including those with special needs, are challenged and able to find success in the classroom through individualization and modification.

Create a safe and welcoming environment where my students can express themselves.

Encourage and model respect of all people, tools, and ideas.

Clearly communicate high but reasonable expectations and goals to students and parents.

Promote the arts within the community, the school, and the daily lives of each student.

Continue my own studies and passions for art in order to stay inspired and inspire my students.

Further my education of art and education in order to stay updated on issues and affairs in current art and education.
